สำหรับประเทศสยาม หนึ่งในสิ่งที่เป็นของสำคัญในบรรดาเครื่องบรรณาการที่คณะทูตดังกล่าวนำมาทูลเกล้าถวายในหลวงรัชกาลที่ 4 คือเครื่องโทรเลข ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นโทรเลขเครื่องแรกที่เข้ามาสู่ประเทศสยาม

The Prussian Expedition to China, Japan and Siam in the years 1860, 1861 and 1862 is a memoir compiled by Lieutenant Werner Von Reinhold.

In 1859, Crown Prince William, acting as regent for the ailing King Friedrich Wilhelm IV, appointed Friedrich Albrecht Graf Fritz zu Eulenburg as a special envoy and Prussian plenipotentiary minister. Representing the German Customs Union, Eulenburg led a delegation that departed from Prussia on four royal warships: the ARCONA, commanded by Captain Sundewall; the frigate THETIS, commanded by Captain Jachmann; the FRAUENLOB, commanded by Lieutenant Klaffe Reetzke; and the transport steamer Elbe, commanded by Lieutenant Werner Von Reinhold (the author).

The delegation included several notable individuals: Dr. Lucius von Ballhausen; Deputy Max von Brandt; painter Wilhelm Heine; artist Albert Berg; Karl Eduard Heusner; Fritz von Hollmann; geographer Ferdinand Von Richthofen; and Dr. Gustav Spiess.

The expedition arrived in Siam during the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV) with the purpose of establishing friendly relations and signing trade treaties with Siam, as well as with China and Japan.

This book is a two-volume hardcover set, measuring 21 x 13.5 cm.

Volume 1 is 303 pages thick and details the life, customs, and culture of the people of China, Hong Kong, and Singapore, along with the trade agreements between China and Germany. This is a first-edition German printing from 1863 by the publisher F.A. Brockhaus, Leipzig, and includes illustrations and maps of the travel route.

Volume 2 is 551 pages thick and covers the life, customs, and culture of the people of China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Japan. It also includes information on the Chinese imperial family, marriage and child-rearing, birth and death rituals, agriculture, and military affairs. It details the Taiping Rebellion during the reign of the Xianfeng Emperor and discusses Britain's stance on the Chinese civil war, as well as the trade agreements between China and Germany.

Among the important tributes presented to King Rama IV by the delegation was a telegraph machine, which is believed to be the first one to arrive in Siam.

This book is a record of Lieutenant Werner Von Reinhold's journey, experiences, and observations as the commander of the steamer Elbe. It is considered a crucial historical document about Siam because it records the author's fascinating accounts of his experiences, particularly those concerning the country 163 years ago. The expedition was the first German delegation to visit Siam in 1862.

This second volume, also in good condition, was published in German with illustrations and maps of the travel route by the publisher F.A. Brockhaus, Leipzig, in 1873.
