ภาพพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว และ สมเด็จพระศรีสวรินทิรา พระบรมราชเทวี พระพันวัสสาอัยยิกาเจ้า บนหน้าปกหนังสือพิมพ์ฝรั่งเศส Le Petit Journal ฉบับวันทื่ 10 มิ.ย ปี ค.ศ. 1893 ภาพนี้เป็นภาพสีที่พิมพ์ด้วยวิธี copper plate engraving ซึ่งเป็นเทคนิคการสกัดภาพลงบนแผ่นทองแดง แล้วนำไปผ่านเครื่องพิมพ์ ภาพนี้ถูกวาดโดย Henri Meyer ศิลปินชาวฝรั่งเศสที่มีชื่อเสียงในการวาดภาพประวัติศาสตร์และการเมือง  

ทางฝรั่งเศสนำภาพพระองค์ท่านตีพิมพ์บนหน้าปก เนื่องจากในปี ค.ศ. 1893 เป็นปีแห่งความตรึงเครียดทางการเมืองระหว่างสยามและฝรั่งเศส จนถึงมีการประทะการทางทหาร หรือคนไทยรู้จักกันว่า วิกฤตการณ์ ร.ศ. 112 หรือในต่างประเทศเรียกว่า วิกฤตฝรั่งเศส-สยาม ซึ่งวิกฤติการณ์ดังกล่าวมีผลทำให้ประเทศไทยต้องเสียดินแดนบางส่วนให้ฝรั่งเศส เพื่อรักษาประเทศไว้

The picture is a color print made by the copper plate engraving technique, which is a method of etching an image onto a copper plate and then passing it through a printing press. The picture was drawn by Henri Meyer, a famous French artist who specialized in historical and political scenes. 

1893 A.D. was a year of political tension between Siam and France. There were military conflicts between the two countries or known to Thai as 112 Cricis, or in foreign countries it is called the Franco-Siamese crisis. This crisis caused Thailand to lose some of its territory to France.
