ภาพพิมพ์ copper plate engraving การเข้าเฝ้าออกใหญ่ ณ พระราชวังจื่อจิ้นเฉิง (Zijin Cheng Palace) กรุงปักกิ่ง ของคณะราชทูตจากสยาม ที่ทูลเชิญพระราชสาส์นและเครื่องมงคลราชบรรณาการจากพระเจ้ากรุงสยามไปจิ้มก้องพระเจ้าเฉียนหลง ประมาณปี ค.ศ. 1781 โดยสันนิษฐานว่าเป็นคณะของพระยาสุนทรอภัย ราชทูตจากสมเด็จพระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรีซึ่งเดินทางกลับเข้ามาเมื่อประมาณปี ค.ศ. 1783 ซึ่งเป็นช่วงผลัดแผ่นดินเป็นรัชกาลที่ 1 แล้ว วาดโดยศิลปิน Chez Mondhare ประมาณปี ค.ศ. 1785
การจิ้มก้องในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาดำเนินมาถึงจุดสุดท้าย เมื่อสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวบรมโกศทรงมีพระราชบัญชาให้คณะทูตแต่งกองเรือไปจิ้มก้องยังกรุงปักกิ่ง (ปีรัชสมัยจักรพรรดิเฉียนหลง) สำเภาจากสยามได้รับอนุญาตให้จอดที่ท่าเรือกวางตุ้งเหมือนดังเคย คณะทูตพร้อมเครื่องบรรณาการเดินทางต่อทางบกไปปักกิ่ง ขณะคนอื่นๆ ที่โดยสารมาในเรือต่างสวมบทพ่อค้าซื้อขายสินค้ากันจนคุ้มระหว่างรอคณะทูตกลับมาสมทบ

A copper plate engraving depicting the grand audience at the Zijin Cheng Palace (Forbidden City), Beijing, where the Siamese diplomatic mission presented a royal letter and tributes from the King of Siam to Emperor Qianlong. This event is believed to have taken place around 1781 CE, involving a delegation led by Phra Ya Sunthorn Aphai, an ambassador of King Taksin of Thonburi. The mission returned to Siam around 1783 CE, during the transitional period to the reign of King Rama I. The engraving was created by the artist Chez Mondhare around 1785 CE.
The tribute system (referred to as “Chim Kong”) from the Ayutthaya period continued up to its final stages during the reign of King Borommakot, when he ordered a diplomatic mission to Beijing. This occurred during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. The Siamese ships were permitted to dock at the Guangdong port as usual. The delegation then traveled overland to Beijing with their offerings, while other passengers on the ships engaged in trade and commerce during the wait for the diplomats’ return.
This 239-year-old print, in excellent condition, comes with a frame measuring 63 cm wide and 48 cm high.
