หนังสือ In the Far East, with a Narrative of Exploration in Cochin-China, Cambodia, Lao & Siam เรียบเรียงโดย William Henry Davenport Adams นักเขียนและนักหนังสือพิมพ์ชาวอังกฤษในศตวรรษที่ 19 ซึ่งมีชื่อเสียงโด่งดังด้านสิ่งพิมพ์จำนวนมาก โดยเนื้อหาในหนังสือ เป็นบันทึกการเดินทางของคณะสำรวจชาวฝรั่งเศสนำโดย M de Lagree แห่งราชนาวีฝรั่งเศส, M Throl นักพฤกษศาสตร์ และนายแพทย์ประจำคณะสำรวจ M Delaport, Dr Joubert นักวิทยาศาสตร์, M de Carne และ Lt Francis Gardier โดยทำการสำรวจตามลำแม่น้ำโขงจากเขมรไปถึงตอนใต้ของจีน รวมทั้งประเทศต่างๆ ตามลำน้ำโขงเช่นเมืองอยู่ เมืองมาย เมืองอุบล เป็นต้น 

หนังสือขนาด 12 x 17 cm 208 หน้า ตีพิมพ์โดย Thomas Nelson & Son ในปี ค.ศ. 1879 พร้อมภาพประกอบแบบ copper plate engraving ที่สำคัญๆ ทางประวัติศาสตร์ของประเทศไทยและอีกหลายประเทศในอินโดนจีน ที่คนไทยอาจจะไม่เคยทราบรวมทั้งสิ้น 27 ภาพ เช่น

1 ภาพพระราชพิธีราชาภิเษกกษัตริย์เมืองอุบล ซึ่งก่อนหน้านั้น อุบลฯ ไม่ใช่จังหวัด อุบลฯ แต่เป็นรัฐอิสระในการปกครองตัวเอง มีแม้กระทั่งเจ้าผู้ปกครองเมืองของตัวเอง

2 ภาพพระธาตุหนองคาย หรือ พระธาตุกลางน้ำ เดิมชื่อพระธาตุหล้าหนอง เป็นพระธาตุที่หักพังอยู่กลางลำน้ำโขง เป็นที่ประดิษฐานพระบรมธาตุฝ่าพระบาทเก้าพระองค์ตามตำนานอุรังคธาตุ หรือตำนานพระธาตุพนม

In the Far East, with a Narrative of Exploration in Cochin-China, Cambodia, Lao & Siam by William Henry Davenport Adams, a famous 19th century English writer, journalist, and publisher. The book contains the chronicles of the French expedition led by M de Lagree of the French Navy, M Throl, a botanist and medical doctor, M Delaporte, Dr. Joubert, M de Carne, and Lt Francis Garnier for the exploration of the Mekong River basin, from Cambodia to southern China including countries along the Mekong River, such as Muang Yu, Muang Mai, and Muang Ubon, etc.

The book was published by Thomas Nelson. & Son in 1879, size 12 x 17 cm, 208 pages, new cover, with 27 copper engraving illustrations about the history of Siam and other countries in Indochina such as:

1 The coronation ceremony of the King of Ubon. At that time, Ubon was not a province but a city which it's ruler. 

2 Phra That Nong Khai or Phra That Klang Nam, formerly known as Phra That Lar Nong, is a ruined relic in the middle of the Mekong River. 

3 Wat Sisaket in Laos and

4 King of Muong You
