"Sixty Years: Life and Adventure in the Far East" was compiled by John Dill Ross, also known as Captain John Dillion Northwood, the son of an English mariner who did not find success as a gold miner in Australia but later achieved success in the maritime trade with countries in the Eastern Hemisphere. Captain Northwood is considered one of the pioneers of trade and seafaring life in the East Indies, Malay, Singapore, Borneo, the Philippines, Burma, and Siam.
This is a hardcover set consisting of two volumes, each measuring 15x22.5 cm and approximately 800 pages thick (for both volumes). The content is divided into 38 sections, mostly detailing the author's adventures in various locations such as Borneo, Sarawak, Japan, Russia, Saigon, Singapore, Burma, and Siam during the period when Siam had territorial disputes with France. It also includes stories about James Brooke, the White Rajah of Sarawak appointed by the Sultan of Brunei, among many other topics. The book contains 25 black-and-white illustrations and 1 map. It was published as a first edition by E. P. Dutton Company, UK, in 1911 and is in good condition.
