Alain Manesson Mallet (1630–1706) was a French writer, cartographer, and engineer. He began his career as a soldier in the army of Louis XIV and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in the artillery and as an inspector of fortifications. In addition to his military service, he also served the King of Portugal before returning to France, where he was appointed to work at the court of Louis XIV. His notable works include a variety of publications, but his most renowned work is the set "Description de L'Univers" (1683) and "Les Travaux de Mars ou l'Art de la Guerre" (1684).

The map itself, which is 340 years old, resulted from explorations by figures such as Marco Polo, Giacomo Gastaldi, and Miguel Lopez. The map was printed in Paris in the year 1683 and comes with frame size 24x 34 c.m.
