Marie Firmin Bocourt เป็นนักสัตววิทยาและศิลปินชาวฝรั่งเศส โดยปฏิบัติงานร่วมกับนักสัตววิทยา Gabriel Bibron ในปี ค.ศ. 1865 เขาถูกส่งมายังประเทศสยามเพื่อทำการสำรวจสัตว์ป่าและนำตัวอย่างที่สำคัญกลับไปยังฝรั่งเศส

นับเป็นภาพสำคัญทางประวัติศาสตร์การคล้องช้างของไทยเมื่อ 158 ปีที่ผ่านมา

An ancient print of circling an elephant in Siam in 1865 or during the reign of King Mongkut, Rama IV. This print was drawn by Mr. Marie Firmin Bocourt. Published together with a related article in the French newspaper Le Monde Illustre', dated 7 January 1865.

Marie Firmin Bocourt was a French zoologist and artist. In 1865 he was sent to Siam to conduct a wildlife survey and bring important specimens back to France. This is important evidence in the history of elephant circling in Thailand in the past 158 years. A full 16-page newspaper in good condition.
