ภาพพิมพ์พระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว บนหน้าปกหนังสือพิมพ์ Le Petit Journal ฉบับวันที่ 7 May 1899 ทรงพระราชทานวโรกาสให้นาย Paul Doumer, ผู้ว่าการอินโดจีนฝรั่งเศสเข้าเฝ้า ณ ภายในท้องพระโรง พระที่นั่งจักรีมหาปราสาท ซึ่งการเข้าเฝ้าในครั้งนั้น ฝรั่งเศสได้รับการประสานงานจากทูตของ Russia เพื่อมารับทราบนโยบาย 4 ประเทศมหาอำนาจ ได้แก่ ฝรั่งเศส อังกฤษ เยอรมนี และรัสเซีย จะร่วมประกันเอกราชของประเทศสยามมิให้ตกเป็นอาณานิคม

หลังจากเดินทางกลับประเทศ นาย Doumer ได้เล่นการเมืองจนได้รับตำแหน่งรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการคลังในปี ค.ศ.1925 และได้รับเลือกให้เป็นประธานาธิบดีในเดือนพฤษภาคม ค.ศ.1931 และถูกลอบสังหารในปี คศ 1932

The image depicts His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, Rama V, on the cover of the Le Petit Journal newspaper dated May 7, 1899. In this image, His Majesty granted permission for Mr. Paul Doumer, the Governor-General of French Indochina to audience inside the Royal Palace's Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall. During this visit, France was coordinated by the Russian embassy to learn about the policy of the "Four Great Powers," which included France, England, Germany, and Russia. They would collectively guarantee the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Siam to prevent it from becoming a colony.

After returning to his country, Mr. Doumer engaged in politics and eventually became the Minister of Finance in 1925. He was later elected as the President in May 1931 and was assassinated in 1932.
